Voluntourism Program

Community Work-Days

Our volunteer days are on the first Monday of the month in the mornings from 9am til 11:30am. Volunteers will learn about the history of the farm and about the kalo plant. Volunteers will work alongside Keʻanae farmers to help with all aspects of farming including planting, harvesting and maintaining taro patches.

This is a family-friendly activity and all ages are welcome. Come prepared with water, sun protective clothing and water shoes to wear in the loʻi. Mālama Maui work gloves are provided. Wear clothes that can get wet and muddy. Email namahiaiokeanae@gmail.com to get involved!

ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Na Mahiʻai o Keanae was established by taro farmers of Keanae to help their farming community and families.

In 2021, Board President Chauncey Kimokeo passed away and we send our condolences and aloha to his ʻohana and the Keanae community.

In May 2022, a group of partner organizations and community members stepped in to help the nonprofit.

Na Mahiʻai o Keanae and will continue to provide direct farm support.  Malino Loa will work with Pilipaʻa LLC to fulfill the Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) agreement to monitor and maintain the waterways leading into the Keanae peninsula.
